Wherethe place is the point
The Cape Kitchen is at 1215 Phillip Island Road in Newhaven, perched above the Southern Ocean with views that stretch from Cape Woolamai to Pyramid Rock. The building was designed to put the coast at the centre of everything: every table faces the water.
The kitchen is built around what Gippsland produces. The team sources ingredients from local farms and regional suppliers wherever possible, with importance placed on provenance, seasonality and native ingredients. The drinks list is exclusively Australian, with an emphasis on Victoria and Gippsland.
Breakfast and lunch are served as a curated set menu: two or three courses, composed rather than improvised, and designed to let a single afternoon stretch into something worth remembering. For those who want something more relaxed, the deck runs a sharing-style menu with the same ocean in the background.
